Ah, southern California rents. The average rent for a two bedroom apartment in Ventura county is $1560.00. Well, in July it was $1560.00. It went up again, and our lease expires on October 31. We're moving at the end of October to a different apartment. In the meantime, enjoy some more Harley Quinn pictures!

Here's some of the pictures we took on our trip to Las Vegas, as noted in the previous post. Included are pictures of our 1st anniversary gifts. Here's a list of the traditional anniversary gifts Traditional Anniversary Gifts in new window(screw modern, that gets expensive).

For our first anniversary, we travelled to Las Vegas, the site our of wedding. As I walked down the stairs of our apartment, I turned back slightly to answer Mrs. splorp!. It was at this point that I attempted to break my ankle. Unsuccesful, we continued on.

From where we live in southern California, it's roughly 330 miles to Las Vegas. Since my Civic's passenger window decided to die, we took Mrs. splorp!’s Fit while my car spent the next few days at the dealership (extended warranties rock). It was a lot more road noise than my Civic, but still comfortable (I do hate the lack of an armrest).

As we approached Primm (which southern Californians call "stateline"), we could see stormclouds, lightning and what appeared to be rain. Remember, this is the Nevada-California border in September, with temperatures in the high 90s / low 100s. We catch some sprinkles on the way in, but nothing much. I used the intermittent wipers. During our stop at Terrible's Casino, I played a little video poker. On a nickel machine, I won $200.00! Woo hoo! Unfortunately, Mrs. splorp! and I blew most, if not all, of that over the next couple days. (;<

On Monday we went down to the MGM Grand from our hotel (Treasure Island) and had a picture taken in front of the chapel. We also stopped by the M&M store and, of course, my Mecca: the Coca-Cola store. For dinner, we went back to our hotel and ate at "The Steak House". We had probably the best filet mignon and lobster tail EVER. I hear some of you who think YOU'VE had the best ever.

You're wrong.

After dinner, we lost some more money at the Wynn, where we saw La Rêve. Like other Cirque du Soleil shows, it features feats of strength, acrobatics and humor. Worthwhile, but remember you can get wet if you sit within the front few rows.

Tuesday morning, we drove home. Coming soon: a few new pictures!

September 4, 2007

Welcome to September. In 6 days I will have been married for an entire year. Yeah! That's what I said! Who would have thought that I, splorp! the Evil Bastard, would get marriaged? I got lucky :) She's a cutie.

I uploaded some more miscellaneous pictures. They are truly miscellaneous. Well, mostly. Two of the four are kind of related. Well, they are related in both content (stuff on my wall) and location (my kitchen). Now that I think about it... three of the four were taken in our apartment. So... I guess when viewed as a group they aren't exactly all miscellaneous; but, dammit, they want to be miscellaneous! Ah, screw it. Go look.

Drusilla, the Vampire Parakeet To the left, you’ll see Drusilla,
the Vampire Parakeet, named after
a character on Buffy the Vampire Slayer,
because she bit like a vampire.
She passed away on 12/20/04.
