This is me in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii under a banyan tree. Yes, A tree. Singular. All those trunks belong to a single plant. It was planted in 1873 and now covers two-thirds of an acre. If you're having trouble seeing me, look in the lower right corner. I'm wearing a gray shirt and khaki shorts. September 13, 2006.

Mrs splorp! in our stateroom on the big boat. To her left is a free dessert provided by one of the restaurants and further left is a towel folded into a dog. No, I don't know why. September 13, 2006.

Mrs splorp! at the visitor center at Haleakala. Haleakala is a massive shield volcano that forms more than 75% of the Hawaiian Island of Maui. You may notice she looks cold. You may also notice that just above her head is a sign reading 9,740 feet. It was, if I remember correctly, about 25-30 degrees colder at the peak than it was at sea level. September 14, 2006
